Our Journey Begins...

Greetings fellow FUMC Rockwallians! Parents, friends, family, etc! Our caravan of vans made it safely to Memphis last night (March 14th). We spent a comfortable night on the floor at St. Luke's Methodist Church, and they were most welcoming. We are not sure if Mr. Blom got any sleep or not last night, spending quality time with the junior high boys at 2:00 in the morning. Mrs. Meacham and Mrs. Blom got enough though. After a hardy breakfast at Bryant's (a local breakfast favorite), we enjoyed a traditional worship
service at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. It was really cool to sing the traditional hymns, sit in pews, and read from a hymnal. No jumbo tron here!

After the service, we were on our way to Mountain T.O.P. in Altamont, TN, with a traditional stop at Wal- Mart before climbing into the mountains. We also celebrated in the parking lot of Wal- Mart, Mr. Lee's birthday, singing and eating cupcakes! We won't tell you how old he is.

We are here at the Mountain T.O.P. camp, all settled into our "duplex" of a cabin. Boys on the left, girls on the right, and neutral territory in the middle. We ate tacos for dinner, had a short orientation to figure out what the week holds, and our work groups were formed. We worshiped, and now we're just "hangin' out" until bedtime at 11.

We will let you know where you're children and friends ended up, what work groups they are in, what projects we're working on, and if the adults survive,
as we report more tomorrow. Please keep us all in your prayers as we serve Him.
