Mesa Verde & Santa Fe!

After a full week of work we left Shiprock and headed for some short adventures on our way back home. We visited the beautiful views and ancient dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park. We stopped at lunch in Durango. Then we got to Santa Fe in time to catch a few downtown stores and find a tasty dinner at the Blue Corn Cafe. And now we are settling in for a night's stay at First Presbterian Church in Santa Fe before our drive home tomorrow!

Last Day on the Worksite

Report from the worksites:

Blue Group!!!

Today at the Sandoval's our amazing group finished putting the last two layers of tar paper on the roof and were finally able to prime the wood. We even ended up doing this all before lunch! All five of us (Me, Sidney, Ben, Marshall, and the boss man) worked super hard so that we could finish the job before we left to go home this week. After we finished, Sam and Malula came out of their house to see the finished deck. They invited us and Mr. Frank for a prayer circle where Sam blessed us on our way home and thanked all of us youth for our work this week! Next we loaded up the tools and headed off to the Shiprock for a scenic lunch! It was seriously the best lunch break I’ve ever had! We had an INCREDIBLE view that just reinforced all the beauty I’ve seen this week! We climbed rocks, decorated rocks (thanks to Sid), learned about the differenttypes of rocks and how they had formed (thanks to Ben), thought up new innovative bagel creations (Marshall...) and had a rockin’ four wheel experience (thanksto the boss man)! In sum, today rocked and I am so thankful for the experiences I've had this week!

P.S. The boss man is Derrell? Derrl? Deral? [Darryl]…..I still don’t know how to spell his name, even though we’ve all given it a shot….It shouldn’t be that hard, but apparently it is… sorry! Thanks boss man!!

RED Group!!

Today we finished the drywall on the room that we have been working on. The day was a longer day than expected. We spent the whole work time cutting and mounting drywall. As we worked we socialized and played music but still accomplished what we needed. Once we had finished we looked back at the work we had done, and we were proud of our work. We had a wonderful last day of work and I can’t wait to do it again next year.
